Apatite is a general term for any one of a series of phosphate minerals.  Apatite is commonly found as well-formed and transparent coloured, glassy crystals and in nodules or masses.  The name is derived from the Greek ‘apate’, meaning deceit, and referring to its similarity to crystals of other minerals such as Aquamarine, Amethyst, and Olivine.  It can be intensely coloured, occurring in green, blue, violet-blue, purple, colourless, white, yellow and rose-red.

Apatite has inspirational qualities. It is a stone of manifestation and promotes a humanitarian attitude.  It is said to assist with aloofness and alienation, heartbreak in love and inability to move on from love that did not last or develop.  It is a joyful stone that encourages one to release one’s attachment to illness or disease and to focus with renewed hope upon vibrant good health.

Psychologically, Apatite increases motivation and builds up energy reserves.  It induces openness and social ease and draws off negativity about oneself and others.  Stimulating creativity and the intellect, Apatite clears confusion and helps to access information to be used personally or for the collective good.  Apatite expands knowledge and truth and eases sorrow, apathy and anger.  It reduces irritability and overcomes exhaustion.  Apatite can be used as a dream stone, accessing the subconscious for creative problem solving.

Physically, Apatite is said to strengthen teeth, gums and bones.  Also aids repair of broken bones and damaged cartilage.  This stone is reputed to suppress hunger and yo-yo dieting and encourage healthy eating!! (Yeah right! lol).
