mawsitsit11Maw-Sit-Sit is one of the more unusual gemstones in the world, from its curious name to its variable chemical composition including kosmochlor (also known as ureyite), varying amounts of chromium-enriched jadeite, and albite feldspar.  It is a recent find, first identified in 1963 by the late Swiss gemmologist Dr. Edward

Gubelin. It was named after the village in north western Burma which is close to the site where it was first found. Typically maw-sit-sit is green with distinctive dark-green to black veining.

Maw-Sit-Sit is considered to be a rock rather than a mineral and is often classified as a member of the jade family but it is NOT a variety of jade. Sometimes Maw-Sit-Sit is called a “cousin” of jade, which seems appropriate.  The source location for Maw-Sit-Sit lies in the foothills of the Himalayas, near the historic b_mawsitsit_dimperial jadeite mines of northern Burma. Thus far Maw-Sit-Sit has only been found in this single location, making it a rare material indeed.

Maw-Sit-Sit makes it easy to find joy in life. Its vibrant energy is like breath of fresh air that clears away the debris that builds up through our daily lives and leaves us energised. You know when you take a deep breath after running up a hill and you get to the top and there is a sense of accomplishment, good chemicals are released and oxygen flows through your blood then you get a sense of its good to be alive… that is how this crystal feels.  Maw-Sit-Sit brings fruitful living, excellent health and abundance. Helps to heal traumas and issues of the past. Stimulates positive attitude and intention.mawsitsit412
