Selenite is a hydrous calcium sulphate mineral and is a form of Gypsum (Alabaster).  Its crystals are typically tubular, with striations running along its length. Selenite is formed as an evaporate in clay beds and around hot springs.  The name Selenite is from Middle English Selinete, from Latin Selenites, from Greek Selēnitēs (lithos), literally, moonstone or stone of the moon, from Selēnē (Moon). The ancients had a belief that certain transparent crystals waxed and waned with the moon. From the 15th century, Selenite has referred specifically to the variety of gypsum that occurs in transparent crystals or crystalline masses.

The purest translucent white Selenite is an ancient stone with an ethereal quality and is said to be one of the most powerful stones on Earth.  When placed in the corners of a house, Selenite is said to form a protective grid, creating a safe and quiet space that does not allow outside influences.  Carrying the imprint of what has happened in the world; Selenite reaches other lives and is very useful for checking on progress made. It pinpoints lessons and issues that are still being worked on, and shows how they can be resolved.
