Did you know?

Fluorite is calcium Floride and occurs in well formed crystals of many different colours.  Violet, green and yellow are the most common colours but it can also be colourless and transparent and colours can occur in distinct zones within the same crystal.  The phenomenon of fluorescence was first observed in Fluorite.  The name Fluorite comes from the Latin fluere, meaning ‘to flow’, referring to the ease in which it melts when used with refining or smelting of metals.

The ancient Egyptians used Fluorite in statues and to carve scarabs, and the Chinese have used it in carvings for more than 300 years.  In the 18th century, powdered fluorite was added to water to relieve the symptoms associated with kidney disease (Yuk!).

Fluorite is known as the stone of responsibility.  The main ‘magical power’ of fluorite is to bring order to chaos, an attribute that is said also to work on the mind, where it improves concentration and analytical ability. Fluorite is highly protective, especially on a psychic level. Fluorite is reputed to bring stability to groups, linking them into a common purpose.

Psychologically, Fluorite increases self-confidence and dexterity.  Wearing fluorite is thought to bring emotional stability by lifting depression and despair, and dispelling anger.  It aids in ‘thinking through’ ones feelings when one is overwhelmed by emotional experience.  It can help overcome fear of the future.

Fluorite is an excellent learning aid as it helps to organize and process information.  It helps you to absorb new information and promoted quick thinking.

Medically, Fluorite is a powerful healing tool, dealing with infections and disorders.  It is beneficial for colds, flu, and sinusitis.  Fluorite is also supposed to rekindle sexual libido (keep it away from husbands lol), and is reputed to be an aid to good health and physical perfection! (obviously I don’t need Fluorite! – I wish!).
