Sodalite

Did you know?

Sodalite, named in 1811 for its high sodium content is a feldspar mineral.  Sodalite is a major constituent of Lapis Lazuli, so the two are easily confused.  However, unlike Lapis, Sodalite very rarely contains brassy pyrite specks.  Sodalite may contain white streaks of the mineral Calcite.

Sodalite is said to act as a ‘signpost’ in ones personal journey, and to understand where one is on the pth of life.  Sodalite is reputed to enable the mind to reach clear conclusions by combining intuition with logical thinking.  It is also believed to encourage truth, to help express feelings and emotions, to calm the mind and open the mind to new ideas and information.  When several people gather together in the presence of Sodalite, it is said to enhance their companionship and trust!

Emotionally, Sodalite is said to calm panic attacks, phobias, guilt and fears, and to give confidence to the insecure by enhancing their self-esteem.  It is believed that women should wear this crystal to come to terms with aging issues (think i will stick to my Boots Lift & Luminate!).

Sodalite is thought to be useful in balancing the metabolism and cleansing the internal organs (a good hot curry would also do this!).  It is also considered to be beneficial to the immune system and throat, to regulate blood pressure and to aid peaceful sleep.
